Plant based foods help to regulate insulin levels in the blood stream, helping those with diabetes control their condition. Plant-based foods also help to regulate blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke. A plant-based diet can also be just as effective in treating heart disease as a traditional diet.

Diabetes Control

Those with Type II diabetes have the benefit of eating more often due to reduced intake from other sources. This helps to regulate the insulin production and can help control high blood sugar levels. An increase in fiber intake can also reduce the insulin output.

A plant based diet can also help to treat some forms of cancer, including breast cancer and prostate cancer. Studies show that eating more fruits and vegetables can reduce cancer risk and improve quality of life. Plant based foods can also help to protect against osteoporosis. Recent studies have shown that women on a plant based diet experienced more bone strength.

Heart Health

A plant based diet can also help prevent atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a serious condition that leads to heart attacks and strokes. Researchers suggest that plant-based foods can help slow the progression of atherosclerosis and may even be able to prevent heart disease.

There are many other health benefits of eating more natural foods. These include: weight loss, increased energy, lower cholesterol and blood pressure levels, less inflammation, fewer allergies, stronger bones, improved digestion, a better skin, increased mental clarity, more energy, and more. A healthier diet will also improve overall wellness, which will lead to a better overall sense of well being.

One important consideration when making dietary changes is to be realistic. Although plant-based foods have benefits and advantages, you should consult your doctor before altering your eating habits to improve your health.

Green Tea

Did you know that green tea has been scientifically proven to help you lose weight? I did not know this until my friend introduced me to green tea. Green tea contains the powerful antioxidant EGCG or epigallocatechin gallate, one of the most powerful antioxidants found in nature. By increasing the antioxidant content of our daily diet, green tea helps to fight free radicals, which have been implicated in many of our modern ills.

Green tea is also believed to help decrease the effects of diabetes on our bodies. Green tea also contains the amino acid L-glutamic acid, which has been shown to fight off cancer cells and inhibit the growth of tumors. So, if you are struggling with a weight problem, you may want to add green tea to your diet.

When combined with exercise, a good weight loss program can really help you lose weight. Many people report losing five pounds per week after just a few weeks on their new plant based diet regime.

The Cons

So in the fairness of looking at a plant based diet pros and cons, we’ve explored the pros, what are the cons to eating a whole food plant based diet? Off the top of my head I cant’t think of anything health wise, I would say from my experience the biggest drawbacks are learning to make good meals where the veg is the star of the show rather than a supporting act, although this starts to become easy quickly, however if you are not confident in the kitchen you may want to get extra support through the 30 day challenge

So, if you are looking for ways to lose weight naturally without using harmful drugs, you may want to consider using a plant-based diet for your weight loss. I hope you find a plan that suits you well. This type of weight loss strategy is simple, easy to stick with and safe.
